Of all the body pains you experience, knee pain is one of the most frustrating.
When pain and stiffness start to build in your knee, you will find your movement becomes limited. This can affect any level of fitness – from going for a run to enjoying a round of golf and even comfortably getting up and down the stairs in your house.
If your knee pain has started to impact your daily routine – and painkillers aren’t helping it to subside – it’s gone beyond a niggle that will go away in its own time.
You don’t need to accept knee pain as part of the “wear and tear” of aging.
Private physiotherapy can find the source of your knee pain, and then create a plan to treat it – so you can get back to your favourite activities without a moment’s thought.
We see a lot of clients struggling with knee pain at our Hamilton physiotherapy clinic – so our team knows exactly how to treat it.
When you choose private physiotherapy, you say goodbye to long waitlists for an appointment and lists of generic exercises that don’t improve your situation.
At Hamilton Physiotherapy, we focus on outcome over intervention. Your first appointment is always an in-depth consultation, so we can understand what aggravates your pain and determine its source. Then, we will create a personalised treatment plan with clear actions and milestones for when you will start to feel better.
The result? You start tackling your knee pain immediately so you can get your energy and mobility back.

I had tried a number of different physios/osteopaths/chiropractors over the years and had no such luck in getting any real long term relief or progress. However, after using David’s services and guidance I have for the first time, in a long time, been able to make the progress I was looking for. I had played junior football in my early 20s and had to hang up my boots through my injury. This year I was able to complete a full season of amateur football with only missing a handful of games through injury thanks to David’s help and programs that he designed specifically around my needs. I can’t recommend him enough to anyone who has suffered anything remotely similar. A real 5 star service ⭐️ Peter Copland2025-07-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Called out to David for help with an ongoing shoulder complaint, he assessed and set up a weekly exercise programme which eased my pain and gave me strength back, within a few weeks I was feeling much better, also gave me good advice on a historical back complaint as well, I would recommend David to anyone who has been struggling with joint pain, lack of movement issues, he also has excellent one to one skills making you feel at ease from the first meeting. john kyle2025-07-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend David highly enough. I thought I was going to have to just put up with a very sore back but even after my first appointment it made such a difference. David is excellent, he puts you at ease and talks you through everything. I had 5 appointments with him and he gave me some exercises to do at home and I’m now pain free. I’m so pleased I found him and appreciate what he did. Thank you. Anne Gallagher anne gallagher2025-06-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have suffered from recurrent back pain for a long time, but after a few sessions with David, I now feel the best I have in years. David took time to assess the root cause of my pain and prepared a clear plan to achieve my desired outcome. I am confident that the exercises David has tailored for me will keep my back healthy for the long term. Andrew Richmond2025-05-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have been with David at Hamilton Physiotherapy for the past three months, after post surgery shoulder, neck and arm pain. The initial excersises David asked me to carry out proved to be quite difficult, but slowly after some grim determination and encouragement I now find them fairly easy and quite enjoyable. I can now sleep better at night and most of all pain free. I would not hesitate to recommend David to anyone. kenneth burt2025-05-09Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. David helped me with my neck and back problems (20+ years of working in the office resulting in bad posture & bad habits). He diagnosed and addressed the issues with a set of exercises that I've added to my daily (and gym) routine. The posture issues, neck and back pains are now gone, and my golf has improved as well! I would highly recommend David's service. Marek Kalwasinski2025-03-10Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. David helped me with my lower back problem. He was very friendly, professional, informative and thorough. Thanks to David now I know what to do should my back problem comes back again in the future - hopefully not for a very very long time. All the hints and tips and exercises that David shared were all very helpful. putri hirota2025-02-20Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I hurt a joint in my back at an exercise class just a few days before my ski holiday and needed treatment at short notice. I saw David as an emergency and after just 2 sessions, supported by great advice & follow up exercises, I was pain free and able to enjoy my ski trip. I went to David after seeing a doctor who referred me to the NHS clinic in Hamilton to see a physiotherapist. He told me I had strained the muscles in my lower back .if it did not get better in 6 weeks go back and see the doctor who would refer me again. Because of the pain I decided to see a private physio and after having a chat with David on the phone I made an appointment . The best thing i ever did . The first appointment he told me it wasnt my back it was my hip .He then explained what the issue was and showed me the structure of the hip and how the issue was occurring . At every appointment he made me feel very at ease .he gave me exercises to do at home and work which did get rid of the pain .A big thankyou BUAVOX . Christine Tannock2025-01-07
If movement is sore, you might try to relieve your knee pain by sitting in one position for a while.
But what happens when you try to get up? Usually, your knee is sorer and stiffer than before, and it can even take a couple of attempts to stand comfortably.
Your knee needs to bear weight: when you reduce your movement, the pain can get worse. Your first step is to start building up your activity levels in a way that is comfortable.
A quick Google or YouTube search will bring up hundreds of exercises for knee pain – but how do you know they are the right ones for your pain?
In some cases, doing the wrong exercises will make you feel worse!
The best way to create a personalised exercise programme is to talk to an expert, who can create a progressive plan that builds your long-term strength, function, and mobility.
Above anything else: the most important thing you can do to tackle your knee pain is book a physiotherapy appointment!
Working with a professional is the best way to reclaim your energy, independence, and enjoyment of life.
We don’t promise a magical fix for your pain if we can’t provide one.
