Answering your questions about physiotherapy

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy lets you take control of your recovery from injury by tackling your pain at its source.

Instead of relying on painkillers or hoping your pain goes away on its own, physiotherapy will reduce stiffness or pain in your muscles and joints and help you regain day-to-day function.

If you’ve been experiencing pain for weeks, months, or even years as you get older, you might have accepted it as your new normal.

But it doesn’t need to be this way.

Physiotherapy can help you learn to trust your body again. At Hamilton Physiotherapy, we specialise in treating pain in a wide range of areas, including:

  • Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Knee Pain
  • Hip Pain
  • Post-Op Pain

Your treatment plan will be built around your lifestyle and goals: the reason why you’ve chosen to start physiotherapy is usually as important as the pain itself.

You’ll be surprised at just how quickly you can get back to your old routine and hobbies again!

Some physiotherapy treatments are hands-on – such as manual massage – which can cause tenderness in the targeted area.

However, we promise that while physio might be uncomfortable, it is never painful.

You are in the driving seat throughout your physiotherapy treatment. We believe that rather than just treating you, we also give a clear reason for why we have chosen a particular method.

Your treatment is always under your control and guidance and can be adapted based on how your body responds.

To get the most out of physiotherapy, you need to be willing to listen to professional advice and invest time in the rehab process.

The length of your treatment plan will depend on your condition. There is no set amount of sessions, but our goal is always to get you feeling healthier and achieving the goals you have set as quickly as possible.

If you’re willing to commit, you will get back to your previous best quality of life.

Physiotherapists are experts in treating the body, so you don’t need a referral from your GP or to wait for an appointment before starting your physiotherapy treatment.

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothes are always the best option for your assessment and to perform your rebab exercises.

The most important thing is that our physiotherapists can easily assess your injury. For example, if you have a knee injury, you should avoid wearing jeans to your appointment.

When you choose to come and see us at Hamilton Physiotherapy, you are taking your first step to living a life of less pain.

Rather than waiting on the NHS waitlist, private physiotherapy lets you start tackling your injury at its source immediately.

No matter how long you have been struggling with pain, it CAN get better.

Our expert physiotherapists are supportive and approachable. We might not be able to guarantee a pain-free life, but we’ll be with you every step of the way until you’re as close as you can be.
